Radley's First Driving Experience

A memorable milestone in any boy's life: their first time behind the wheel! I'm happy I was able to share this moment with Radley. Just don't tell the cops ...or the rental car people ...or his parents.

Slackin' Off

My brother Andy dropped by and suggested we go out for a little slack line action. Sounded like a fine idea for a Wednesday evening to me.

Yeah, Andy is a little more experienced than I am at this.

I'm still getting the hang of it.

New Toy On The Block

I recently discovered that I could purchase the lens from a Holga camera that some guy has hacked up to fit on a digital SLR. Brilliant!

It arrived in the mail today. So I attached it to my camera, started at the front door and then went for a walk through my neighborhood.

Learning To Fly!

Vanessa is a superhero. Honest. She has superhero powers and everything. One of her superhero powers is the ability to fly. She was kind enough to share this amazing superhero power with me for a day.

Johnny B on TV

My brother John called me up this morning...only slightly random.

He asked if I could come by the local cable access channel TV studio this evening and be part of the studio audience for some show he was going to be featured on...completely random!

John's first professional makeup job?

Totally legit!

It's possible that one third of the studio audience was a Bradshaw.

"Hey mom, I'm on TV!"

Kim & Andreus' Wedding

My good friend Kim married a good man, Andreus. She was blessed to have her dad walk her down the aisle.

Just over a month later her dad passed away due to cancer.

Lon & Becca's Wedding

I've photographed a lot of weddings and posed many a large group shot. I've gotten pretty good at remaining well composed while being the one in charge and dishing out orders in situations such as this. I've also seen a wide variety of responses from different groups ranging from cooperative to difficult, attentive to unresponsive, etc. But nothing prepared me for today's group.

Not only were they cooperative and easy to work with, but after I had them all arranged and was about to ask them to smile, they spontaneously began to serenade me with the ABC's!!! This was brilliant, because it put a smile on everyone's face and kept their attention focused, instead of fidgeting or moving around. Their photographer however was caught completely off-guard and stood there speechless while trying to remain composed because it was so beautiful.

Wakeboarding

A nice leisurely Saturday at New Hogan Lake was had by all...all four of us: Glen, Erin, Suzanne and I. Everyone else we had invited flaked out and apparently the high gas prices this summer are discouraging the masses from taking their boats out on the water. Which was all fine and dandy by us. We each had more time to be pulled behind the boat and fewer boats on the lake to compete with for the smooth stuff!

Glen gets his feet wet.

Suzanne takes the plunge as Erin lifeguards.

SCS Youth National Championships

USA Climbing's 2008 SCS Youth National Championships were held at Planet Granite in Sunnyvale. Seeing as The North Face is a big sponsor, we set up a booth and gave out free water bottles and snacks to the kids. It was fun to meet the kids and their parents from all across the country.

4th Of July Adventure!

Eight of us and gear loaded up in two trusty Hondas to head up to Big Basin State Park for a weekend backpacking adventure. Only one Honda made it to the top of Highway 9. Four of us spied a large group of more than 30 kids and a few adults starting down the skyline to the sea trail. We contemplated whether we would beat them to Big Basin or not as we headed back to rescue the other Honda, broken down just two turns shy of the summit, pulled off the main road on a private driveway. A private driveway that happened to belong to a very friendly and generous middle-eastern man in the most luxurious and extravagant Mercedes-Benz I have have ever seen. Part of me wanted to accept his offer for help just to have the chance to ride in his leather seated, exotic wood dash, V8 kompressor, big burgundy Benz! But alas we decided to limp the sick Honda back down the hill to Saratoga. Several hours later, after shuttling a replacement Honda from Palo Alto, we all made it to Big Basin. Soon after starting down the trail we passed the kids we saw earlier, already returning from Berry Creek Falls.

Ten Reasons Why My Birthday Was Great

I took the day off work. I slept in. I finished a book. I ate out for breakfast. I went for a scenic drive. I put my toes in the sand at the beach. I picked up a large jellyfish. I had a barbecue dinner with family. I enjoyed dessert with friends. I caught up with an old friend.

Michelle Pfeiffer

Dragons mouth? No problem man!

That was my order at Mango Caribbean restaurant. A Dragons Mouth smoothie and No Problem Man! soup. The soup was great and the smoothie alright. Sitting out on a sidewalk table on a warm summer night enjoying good food and great company - priceless!

Brooke, Angie and I had ditched movies on the square in Redwood City for food after about ten minutes of Grease. We just weren't getting into it.

As much as I love Olivia Newton-John I had hoped we would be seeing Grease 2 because I had just met Michelle Pfeiffer that day when she came into The North Face shopping with her two kids. At first I thought she looked familiar but then there was no mistaking those eyes and that smile. My co-worker Kevin was helping her out but I was doing everything I could to help her out too. Yeah, I admit, I just wanted an excuse to talk to her.

I may not have seen all or even many of her movies but I've always liked Michelle Pfeiffer. She was very nice and it was cool to see her just being a loving mom shopping for her kids. I tried to treat her the same friendly way I would any other customer but I think she knew I recognized her.

Kevin did not recognize her which made things interesting when he asked for her name to put some shoes on hold. I almost blurted out, "It's Michelle!" but held back and waited for him to get her attention and let her answer. After she left he commented, "She kind of looked like Michelle Pfeiffer."
